Our mission at Grace is to honor God by multiplying devoted followers of Jesus through worship, community, training, and witness. One pathway to fulfilling our mission is the reinvigoration of our community as we reach beyond ourselves. That renewal includes our hearts, certainly, but it also includes the ways in which we pursue mission and even the spaces in which we gather. We believe a renovated Worship Center fuels such a plan.
A renovated Worship Center allows us to enjoy community with other believers and to invite guests and newcomers into such relationships. A renovated Worship Center gives people easier and more enjoyable ways to mobilize their training and acts of service. A renovated Worship Center allows us to more effectively communicate the Gospel as we expand our reach in bearing witness to Jesus Christ.
We have come a long way since last March. The Forrest Family Ministry Center is moving towards completion, and today we stand close to fully funding the renovation of the Worship Center. With the Lord’s help, here’s what an ideal Worship Center renovation will look like…
Welcome to Grace Polaris Church’s newly-renovated Worship Center! As we enter through the northside doors, we see an expanded foyer with raised ceilings, which provides a more welcoming and spacious environment than we’ve had in the past. This area will allow us plenty of room for greeting and talking with one another.
Moving into the expanded hallway toward the auditorium, we can see how the additional space gives us the much-needed capacity for mingling that we’ve been lacking in the Worship Center. This gives us a more natural environment to have conversations with our brothers and sisters in the Lord, and even missional opportunities with those who are new to Grace.
Here, we can see a better view of the conversational seating area. This space, which was previously used for auditorium seating under the balcony, is now separated from the auditorium by a sound-insulating wall. Easy access to coffee and snacks will help facilitate community life and Kingdom conversations in this area.
As we enter the auditorium through the center doors, we are immediately met with a new design of this space. Updated colors, new seats, modern audio, video, and lighting systems, as well as updates to the stage and choir and orchestra areas are just a few of the upgrades we see here. New, comfortable, cushioned seating with improved sight lines to the stage and an upgraded sound system make the experience more appealing to visitors and long-time attenders alike. Acoustic dead zones are eliminated so that everyone can fully participate.
A much-welcomed improvement is the replacement of the 35-year old carpet throughout the auditorium. New textiles include removable carpet squares, which improve appearance and maintenance.
The stage and auditorium will be reshaped to provide a more intimate experience. New dimmable LED lighting throughout the auditorium will allow for more flexibility in the types of gatherings we can host, including weddings, funerals, seminars, as well as worship services and community outreach events. An updated heating and air conditioning system will improve comfort and reduce operational costs, thanks to an increase in efficiency. A code compliant sprinkler system will also be installed.
A new stage configuration and side stage areas will provide greater flexibility for the choir, orchestra and worship teams during worship services and other types of gatherings. New audio and video equipment will bring our technological capacity into the 21st Century.
Wheelchair-accessible entrances on the north and south sides of the auditorium feature ramped walkways and provide a better experience for those requiring stair-free accessibility. Handicap seating areas are more widely available and allow everyone to fully participate in gatherings.
Three large entrances and exits to the north, south, and center of the auditorium provide better flow to other ministry spaces. Wider aisles and hallways reduce bottlenecks during transition periods.
These are just some of the many exciting and necessary improvements included in a fully-funded Worship Center renovation, and it’s all attainable with participation from each of us. How is God calling you to support this vision for the future of our Gospel ministry?
Well, there you have it! After 35 years, the time has come to make these much-needed updates to our Worship Center and achieve our common vision for future ministry. God has blessed us with the resources to reach hundreds of thousands of people with the Gospel. We believe that He’s calling us to continue on that mission.
With this Worship Center renovation, we continue to steward the resources that God has entrusted to us in order to reach even more people with the Gospel. As we each join together to make this happen, we reflect on His gracious provision to us and gladly give back to Him with gratitude.
We’re so grateful to so many of you who have stepped up in support of taking the Reaching Beyond capital campaign over the finish line. Thanks to God’s blessing and your generosity, the Forrest Family Ministry Center is fully funded with cash in hand. Praise God for that.
Remaining gifts and commitments will focus on funding the Worship Center renovation so this vision can become reality. We invite and challenge you to participate in Reaching Beyond through a one-time gift or a commitment to give between now and the end of 2020. Can we count on you?
